On the one hand, there’s a positive message for young women that they don’t have to accept a relationship the way it is and have the power to set higher standards for themselves and their partners. But there’s no foolproof “formula” for a good relationship, and the advice differs for each couple, leading to so much advice that it could easily overwhelm a teenager new to romantic relationships.
*Disclaimer – a friend asked me to read this with her because she is single and “not sure what she is doing wrong”. Girl, you aren’t doing anything wrong. And this.
The film Think Like A Man is a romance-comedy that is essentially a battle between the two sexes on many aspects of relationship norms. The message of the film is that although women should treat themselves with care and beauty, acting too soft can get them in trouble. There are ways to manipulate the relationship as a woman and take control.
The entire movie Think Like A Man is a subject of this analysis and criticism. When the men see this book at their homes, they come to the assumption that the ladies are using this advice and try to counteract these tricks themselves. Needless to say, this causes a whole bunch of drama and the couples get in fights. Each of the men has a different situation.
He gets involved with a single mother which he has trouble adjusting too. Each of the four never-married men discovers many obstacles when trying to cope with such a situation that each of them is not used to. Dominic hears Laura curse when she sees his profession and that causes him to break it off. Michael is not ready to have the responsibility of a child and leaves the single mother, Candace. Zeke can never convince the tough girl- Mya- that he will ever provide her with proper care.
Jeremy refuses to accept change and Kristen is done with his frat-boy mentality.
‘Think Like a Man’ is engaging, funny
Rom-coms have long relied on the sassy best friend character to dole out the blunt advice the protagonist needs to find their way to love. In ‘s Think Like a Man , the sassy best friend is regrettably Steve Harvey, who serves up bad advice that pits men and women against one another, enforces sexist ideals, and encourages women to treat their “cookie” as an auto-industry benefits package. Frustrated with their love lives, the women are dealing with fuckboys, a loving manchild, a dude whose mom still does his laundry, their own too-high expectations, and other dating woes.
But through the teachings of mustachioed expert Harvey, they draw a line in the sand to set new standards for themselves.
Think Like a Man starring Taraji P. Henson, Michael Ealy Kevin Hart scene, rather than an investment in a single, deeper story about love.
Shipping the cast of the original film to Las Vegas for a co-ed do-over of The Hangover , the movie spends a frantic 24 hours in the R-rated Fun Capital of the World with no effect but to exhaust itself and its viewers. Harvey, who also used to do standup, has a schedule that would make James Franco look like a slouch. He hosts three daily programs: a morning radio show, an afternoon TV talk show and Family Feud in the evening.
Except for Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry, he is probably the most successful current African-American performer-entrepreneur. And in his spare time he wrote the best-seller Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man , a relationship manual with a light comic touch. But it sold a couple million copies and generated an amiable movie comedy. Think Like a Man created characters based on the male and female types Harvey outlined, while serving as a welcome showcase for a dozen or so attractive actors, most of them of color, who too rarely got prominent film roles.

While I may not be a Steve Harvey fan per se, I am a fan of all things funny, especially when funny comes in the form of a great ensemble cast, well told organically unfolding intertwining stories and characters, and all packaged as a gem of a film shot in, of all places, the Heart of Screenland — Culver City. Men and woman are basically defined by very distinct character traits.
And, of course, depending on what your archetype is can be a help or a hindrance when finding the perfect mate and getting what you want. Dominic, Zeke, Michael, Jeremy and Cedric are lifelong friends.
Fox is developing Think Like A Man, a single-camera comedy executive produced by comedian Steve Harvey, on whose best-selling advice.
It also made a superstar out of diminutive, quick-talking comedian Kevin Hart. The one person working hard, because it is his shtick, is Hart. A little bit of his act goes a long way; here, his frantic presence is stretched thin to the point of snapping. In the first film—which, like this one, was directed by Tim Story —Hart was an enjoyable scene-stealer in small, sporadic doses.
As contrived as it all sounds, there is an actual reason for all the characters from the first film to reassemble for part two courtesy of returning writers Keith Merryman and David A. Although Mama herself, played once again by a withering Jenifer Lewis , keeps trying to get between them in stereotypical fashion. All the sources of tension that defined the other characters—neediness, fear of commitment, balancing career and romance—have dissipated.

Not because of its insights into gender — Did you know men like sex? Talk about product placement: Frame for frame, I’m not sure Hasbro ‘s Transformers have appeared on-screen this often. That makes the self-promotion understandable, but what makes it forgivable is that “Think Like a Man” is a surprisingly engaging, entertaining and very funny movie.

Clearly, some people are single because they choose to be. They are simply not interested in being in a serious relationship at this time in their life. Others are single due to the circumstances of their lives. But the reality is that we hold more power over our romantic destiny than we often think. To a great degree, we create the world we live in, although we are rarely conscious of this process.
An Analysis and Criticism of the Film Think Like A Man He gets involved with a single mother which he has trouble adjusting too.
If you fit into that category, I pray that you will one day choose Christ. But even so, I came across a few lines that I felt Christian singles could also learn from. Before we can be honest with anyone else, we have to first be honest with ourselves. So how did the 90 Day Rule work out for her in the film? Player, who she was getting to know, ends up falling deeply in love with her. The longer she had him wait the more he got to know her and vice versa.
Exactly the way it should be. Waiting helps to develop a purposeful relationship that leads to Courtship and eventually a strong marriage. In it, I prove that it is very possible for a man and woman who are attracted to each other to NOT have sex until their wedding night. Choosing to wait can help a couple to develop a strong foundation in marriage from the start.

Onetime freak Zeke Romany Malco is now settled into a possibly headed-to-marriage relationship with Mya the insanely beautiful Meagan Good. Meanwhile, through a rather hilarious misunderstanding seen in flashback, diminutive busybody Cedric Kevin Hart has been chosen as the best man. And even though none of the men seems particularly keen on getting their freak on, Ced is determined to show everybody a good time — which of course means that everything will soon go to shit, Hangover -style.
The earlier film actually found an entertaining way to portray the challenges of maintaining lasting relationships between comically mismatched partners. This time, these conflicts are used as little more than color, as the film opts instead to try and give us a frantic, exhausting journey through a night in Sin City.
Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man: What Men Really Think About Love, I would recommend that every young girl, single dating girls, and married women give.
It is simultaneously cast as consistently fun and ultimately tragic; essential for fulfilment but only truly acceptable in the past tense. A lot of my friends are in relationships, so when it gets to the weekend and I’m asking what everyone is doing, suddenly every man and his dog is off to Center Parcs. You can’t help but think, what am I doing? I worry for the men who don’t have people around them that they can talk to about feeling alone.
I can see why the suicide rate among men my age is so high because it can really feel like you’ve failed at life. The reality is quite different. As women, depending on when we were born we know precisely what single life in our late 20s and 30s looks like: a heady mix of Bridget Jones , Carrie Bradshaw and, more recently, or rather more refreshingly, Lizzo.
